Steadfast Lover

Thin skinned,
And your words sting.
Your tone stabs,
But your eyes grab,
My attention.

There’s a fire inside
And I want to be burned.
I want to learn,
All your secrets,

I want to watch you breathe,
As you sleep.

And no,
I will not run from your scars.
They make you,
Who you are.

And though they run deep,
And you chase me,
I will not stray.

You can try to be rid,
Of this love I give.
You can try to ignore,
And pretend,
I am gone.
Tell yourself,
In fact have moved on.

But you know,
Deep inside,
When you close your eyes,
I’m there.

I live,
In your memories.
In your dreams.
Because although you wear,
A cold stone face.
And you appear to be standing,
Forever in place.

Be it reality or,
Inside your dreams.
Nothing is ever,
What it seems.
