Unwritten Words

I wish I would have written more words on paper
To capture my love before he left me
For now all I have left of him are words
Spilled ink upon paper
Passionately scrawled with stained fingertips

But he is no more

No warmth
No love
No skin to graze
No mouth to kiss

I want to go back to the moments I felt his love

I want to jump into the pages and let the words swirl around me and softly stroke my face
Whispering memories into my ears

But there are so few of them
I should’ve frozen more words
I should’ve stolen more time

But love has escaped me
I stand here imprisoned in the silence
Staring at the emptiness of the pages waiting to be written
