XXVII

Of all the heartbreaks I’ve ever endured
Yours was the most heartless
The most senseless
The most cruel
Perhaps I felt it more intensely
Due to the fact that my love for you pumps through my veins
And if I cut myself and bleed out ink
All the sentences begin and end with you
You took my heart and wrenched it with your hands
I took that mangled heart and breathed your name into it
To keep it beating in my palms
You left me empty
And I filled myself with words
I made verses of you
I turned you into poetry
